This Privacy Policy explains how PeonyKoi ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information you provide when using peonykoi.com (the "Service"). We are committed to handling your information transparently and in compliance with the GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and PIPL (China) where applicable.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Compatibility Reading Inputs

To generate a reading, you provide:

• The first names of two people (you and your partner)
• Each person's gender, birth date, and (optionally) birth time

We treat birth information as personal data. We use it only to compute the astrology reading and to display your reading to you. We do not sell, rent, or share birth data with any third party for marketing purposes.

1.2 Account Information

If you create an account or subscribe to a paid plan, we collect your email address and (via our payment processor) the billing details necessary to process payment.

1.3 Usage and Technical Data

We collect anonymized usage analytics (page views, reading generation events) via Vercel Analytics. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To compute and deliver the compatibility reading you requested
• To process subscription and one-time purchases
• To send you transactional email (receipts, account notifications)
• To send you the monthly Peach Blossom forecast if you are subscribed (you can opt out at any time)
• To improve the product through aggregated, anonymized analytics

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following processors. Each one only receives the minimum data needed to perform its function:

• Vercel (US) — hosting and analytics
• Cloudflare (US) — DNS
• Lemon Squeezy (US) — Merchant of Record for payment processing, tax compliance, and subscription billing. Lemon Squeezy receives your email and payment details. They do not receive your astrology birth data.
• DeepSeek (Singapore/HK) — language model API used to generate the narrative portion of your reading. We send the structured reading findings (no birth date or full name) to DeepSeek; we do not log or retain prompts on their side beyond their standard 30-day model-input retention.

4. Data Retention

• Birth information you submit is retained while you have an active reading or subscription, and deleted within 90 days of account closure.
• Billing and tax records are retained for 7 years to comply with merchant-of-record tax requirements.
• Analytics data is anonymized and retained for up to 24 months.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your personal data
• Withdraw consent and request portability of your data
• Opt out of marketing emails (the unsubscribe link is in every email)

6. Children

PeonyKoi is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. International Transfers

Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States. By using PeonyKoi from outside the US, you acknowledge that your data is transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses with our processors to safeguard such transfers.

8. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3) for all data in transit and at rest where supported by our infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we encourage you to protect your account password.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify subscribers of material changes by email and post the updated date at the top of this page.
